Don't sweat the small stuff
Not that I’m generally a very worried person, but I do tend to get overly stressed about very small and insignificant things. I need to learn that some things really don't matter and that sometimes I really shouldn't give a damn. 2014 is going to be the year of minimal stress and maximum enjoyment (or that’s the plan at least).
Think more positive
I would say that in a lot of situations, I am able to see the positive aspects but definitely not often enough. I will more than likely think of all the negatives of something before I even consider a more positive outcome. It's mostly reflected in the mood I am in. If I'm feeling a bit down or anxious, I can be an irritatingly negative person. I need to stop finding things wrong with everything and start looking for all the great things in sticky situations and remember that it's not the be all and end all if things don't go as planned.
Be more organised
Everyone feels a lot more at ease when they have things sorted and filed neatly and know what's happening and when. It’s also easier to stick to those New Year’s resolutions when you have a plan of action to carry it through.
Be the best version of you and believe in your dreams (even when others laugh at them).
This is one of my favorite quotes. I like that it encourages you to be the very best you can be, surround yourself with people that bring out the best in you and don't be anything but yourself. It's easy to lose who you are or to become a bit lost but this quote will always bring you back around and remind you just to be YOU and ignore anyone that doesn't allow you to do just that. Sometimes it is important to listen to what people have to say about you and what you believe and then be able to decide to ignore what has been said if it is in no way uplifting you or encouraging you in your dreams.
Travel more and see more.
Now by this I don’t mean you should book the first ticket across the world. Take time this year to travel your own country. I’ve dreamt of traveling all around the world but only recently have I noticed that I have yet to see the place I live in. Go to a local beach you have never been to before or just take a drive to go see some parts of town you just have never gotten to go see.
Know your Big 5
The five things that need to happen by the end of this year for you to feel it’s been your best year yet. Read your Big 5 every morning while the rest of the world is asleep. This is a great way to keep track of your life, especially since everything in life has become such a rush.
Choose to add health to your life this year.
I am aware that most people have already fit health, weight loss, and better skin, get fit etc. Into their new year’s resolutions but I can’t stress this enough. Healthy living is happy living and there is no arguing about that. So before just jumping into your health related resolutions do some research, find out how to make the lifestyle work for you and take it slow. Enjoy every moment of your journey to a healthier you. Don’t let yourself look back at this moment a year from now and say you wish you had started then.
What sort of challenges and resolutions have you set yourself for 2014?
Are you hoping to look back over them in a year and have completed a good handful if not all of them?
